(ii).Solar Cooker and Solar cells are two Solar heating devices.

Solar cookar. It is used to convert sun’s radiation into heat energy ,it has following limitations.

(a) The food is cooked in it slowly.

(b) It can not be used at night.

Solar Cell. It is used to convert light energy into electricity,it has the following limitations.

(a).The solar cells can convert only 25 percent of light energy exposed on its surface into electricity.

(b).The solar cells can not work at night.

Q2. Distinguish between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy. Also give an example of each of these sources.

At present the word’s 10 % of total energy is driven by renewable resources like solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, tidal energy, biomass energy.

Non-renewable source of energy. The sources of energy which can not be used forever because these are available in the earth in limited quantity, the formation of these sources required millions of years. Their continued use may lead their complete depletion out of the earth. The examples of Non-renewable resources are fossil fuel like oil, natural gas, coal etc.

(iii) We get the energy by the breakdown of glucose into carbon dioxide, water, and energy in the form of ATP. The role of insulin is to store glucose into the liver cell. When the insulin secretion is less then it leads hyperglycemia, then, the blood glucose or blood sugar level increases causing Diabetes mellitus. Diabetes means siphon(passes) and Mellitus means sweat. When insulin secretion is less it leads to hypoglycemia.

Q4. In human alimentary canal name the site of the complete digestion of various components of food. Explain the process of digestion.

Answer. Although the digestion of food starts from the mouth, where saliva secreted breaks down carbohydrate and forms food bolus so that it could be swallowed easily

Further, the food transports through the esophagus and reaches to the stomach where the secretion of hydrochloric acid maintains the ph value suitable for the secretion of digestive enzymes (pepsin), which partially digest protein.

This partially digested food enters into the intestine where the enzymes secreted from the pancreas(amylase and trypsin) completely digest carbohydrate into the glucose and protein into amino acids and bile secreted by liver emulsify fat, enzymes secreted from pancreas digest that into fatty acid. Here the molecules of carbohydrate, protein and of fats completely changed chemically and then absorbed by the intestinal villies and enter into the bloodstream.
