Answers:Class 5 Mental Maths Questions For Scholarship Exam
(1)The smallest 5 digit number-10000
(2)The largest 4 digit number-9999
(3)The largest number formed by using 2,0,1,7 -7210
The smallest number formed by using 2,0,1,7-1027
(4)The smallest number formed by using 8,0,1,7,if one digit is repeated twice-10078
(5)The smallest 5 digit number-10000
Predecessor of 5 digit smallest number=10000-1=9999
(6) The largest 4 digit number= 9999
The successor of the largest 4 digit number=9999+1=10000
(7)2920+20 +x = 20 +2920+30
x =30
(8)20 +7012+x = 20 +12434+30
7012+x = 12434+30
7012+x =12464
x =12464-7012=5452
(9)30 +2715 = 30+x
x =2715
(10)45 +3986 = 30+x+3986
45 = 30+x
x =45 -30 =15
(11)8986-x = 5675
x =8986-5675
x=3311
(12)8986+2543-x = 5675+2543
8986-x = 5675
x =8986- 5675
x =3311
(13)The rate of sugar is Rs 40/kg
Means the cost of 1 kg sugar is =Rs 40
The cost of 3 kg sugar is=3×40 =Rs 120
The cost of 1 kg flour is =Rs 30
The cost of 10 kg flour is=10×30 =Rs 300
Therefore the cost of 3kg sugar and 10 kg flour is =Rs 120+Rs 300 =Rs 420
(14)All class 5 students are needed to learn following units of length by heart for solving such questions.
5 meter 9 cm into meter
1 meter =100 cm
9 cm = 9/100=0.09 m(division takes place when converted into greater unit)
∴ 5 meter 9 cm =5+0.09 =5.09 m
1Km =10 Hactometer
1Hactometer=10 Decameter
1Decameter =10 Meter
1Meter = 10 Decimeter
1 Decimeter =10 Centimeter
1Centimeter = 10 Millimeter
(15)If you have remembered the above units sequentially as follows
1Decameter =10 Meter
1Meter = 10 Decimeter
1 Decimeter =10 Centimeter
We can understand 1Decameter =10×10×10 =1000 Centimeter
15 Decameter = 15×1000 =15000 Centimeter((multiplication takes place when converted into smaller unit)
(16) The smallest two digits number =10
Largest two digits number =99
The total two digits number =99-10+1 =90
(17) The smallest three digits number =100
Largest three digits number =999
The total two digits number =999-100+1 =900
(18) The smallest four digits number =1000
Largest four digits number =9999
The total four digits number =9999-1000+1 =9000
(19)96 +104 +59+786
Do the sum of the numbers which you can solve by a straight way like 96+104 =200
Split up the rest of numbers into the multiple of 10
59 =50+9
786 =700 +80+6
Try to add the numbers orally which are multiple of 10 like 200,50,700 and 80 that comes 1030
Then add 9+6 =15 to 1030 that come up 1045.
Ans 20.(a) 0 (b) 2 (c) 10 (d) 30
(a) Factor of 0 =0 only
(b)Factor of 2 =1,2
(c)Factor of 10 =1,2,5,10
(d) Factor of 30=1,2,3,5,6,10,15,30
(21) In a pentagon there are 5 sides
Therefore 5 pentagons will contain= 5×5=25 sides
